About

Crowley Main Street has been the lead organization engaged in the revitalization of Downtown Crowley since February 1999, when the City of Crowley was designated a Louisiana Main Street Community. Crowley Main Street has facilitated significant investment for Crowley’s downtown area over the years to create a vibrant downtown district where locals want to be and others want to visit. For our efforts, we were recognized in 2017 by the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation with the Main Street Award for preservation.

We are affiliated with Louisiana Main Street and the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center, and we follow the tenants of the national and state main street programs.

The Main Street Program is designed to restore the downtown area as a viable marketplace and the center of community activity. It is a program that builds on the downtown’s total image; therefore, the approach is an incremental one that utilizes the Four Point Approach™.

Crowley Main Street utilizes the four-point ‘Main Street’ approach to continue down this path of preservation and economic development. The Main Street Approach is most effective in places where community residents have a strong emotional, social, and civic connection and are motivated to get involved and make a difference, which we think describes Crowley’s business owners and investors perfectly!  The four points of the Main Street Transformation Strategy include:

  • Economic Vitality
  • Design
  • Promotion
  • Organization

Main Street Approach

The goal of the Crowley Main Street program is to stimulate downtown economic development in Crowley by:

  • Encouraging cooperation and building leadership in the downtown business community
  • Creating a positive image for downtown Crowley by promoting the main street district as an exciting place to live, shop and invest
  • Improving downtown Crowley’s image by enhancing its physical appearance and fostering a local historic preservation ethic
  • Stimulating business growth by creating a diverse downtown business mix
  • Hosting community events that reflect Crowley’s diversity, strong sense of community and unique geographic setting

Our Mission

Crowley Main Street’s mission is to preserve, revitalize, and promote the historic cultural, social, and economic significance of Crowley’s Downtown Commercial Historic District to create a healthy, vibrant environment for all.
