(Crowley, LA) – Crowley Main Street has just launched its 4th year of a program to enhance the economic vitality and character of the city’s main street district. The Crowley Main Street Façade Improvement Grant Program allocates financial incentives for exterior building improvement projects in downtown Crowley.
Crowley Main Street will provide up to $2,500 in grants to assist property and business owners with façade and building improvement projects. A total of $10,000 is available to be awarded this year. The new program is supported this year with funding from First National Bank of Louisiana and the Federal Homeland Bank of Dallas.
“By partnering with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, First National Bank of Louisiana has provided over $315,000.00 in financial assistance to community-based organizations that impact our community. We have enjoyed partnering with the Crowley Main Street group of professionals. The work that they do to help small business owners promote their unique services is very commendable. We are so pleased that they will take the grant funds awarded and now pay it forward to help more businesses,” said Cindy Miller, Senior Vice President of First National Bank of Louisiana.
Buildings located within the Crowley Main Street District stand to benefit from a wide range of projects. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, signage, storefronts, painting, awnings, accent lighting, window and/or door replacement, and refurbishment of architectural features.
Crowley Main Street Director Amber Hargrave said the program aims to stimulate investment, create a positive visual impact, complement other community development efforts, and preserve the City of Crowley’s historic and cultural assets.
“Our organization’s goal is to provide an incentive that encourages building/business owners to make improvements to building exteriors that are visible from public streets and sidewalks,” said Hargrave, “Exterior building improvements help to generate more foot traffic, encourage private investment, and foster community pride. This program will help to provide some relief to owners wanting to make some improvements to their buildings.”
Building owners and businesses located within the Crowley Main Street District are encouraged to apply and applications need to include a budget and drawings of the improvements. Proposed changes must also adhere to local and state design guidelines, including approval of the Crowley Historic District Commission. Crowley Main Street will assist with resources and information.
The Crowley Main Street Façade Improvement Grant Program reimburses the building or business owner, so all awards are given once the project is completed. Grant recipients are required to provide a dollar-for-dollar match.
Grant applications are due by Friday, May 31st, 2024. For more information on grant guidelines and application requirements, contact Crowley Main Street Director Amber Hargrave at (337) 783-0824 Ext 1145 or info@crowleymainstreet.org
